Water inside a home can come from unexpected sources, often at the worst times. In the kitchen, a flooded dishwasher or refrigerator can wreak havoc on your flooring and cabinets. An overflowing toilet can destroy your bathroom, your basement, and seep to other rooms in the house, spreading both disease and water damage. The key to addressing these problems is both rapid response time and professional, expert water and sewage removal.

Water damaged basements and crawlspaces can present more challenges than ordinary rooms. Hidden moisture creates mold and mildew that can invade and ruin your stored contents and valuables. A flooded basement can cause long-term problems if not dried out exactly according to dry out standards. Do not risk the value of your property and home by hiring anyone other than Rapid Dry for your basement dry out and restoration.

When sewer water overflows in your home, whether from a broken pipe or a toilet, it creates problems beyond just water damage. Sewage contains harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites, and any direct contact with sewage damaged items could cause severe illness. Our experts will remove all traces of sewage, sanitize the area, and make your home safe again.
Rapid Dry Kansas City’s goal is to ensure that any water emergency is treated as a priority, and that the final product of any job is a complete return to normal for your family and for your home and property.
01 Rapid Response & Site Evaluation
We arrive to most emergencies within about 60 minutes. First thing we do right away is assess the site and find out what is wet using special equipment that can detect moisture behind walls and under floors. Many times, there is much more water and wet materials than the naked eye can see.
02 Water Extraction and Dehumidification
Once the areas are known that are wet and/or contaminated, we immediately strategically place high-powered commercial dehumidifiers to pull any moisture out of the air. This pulls the humidity down to a safe level so mold and other microbial growth is prevented from creating secondary damage to other parts of the structure or home that was not affected. Simultaneously we extract water from carpet or floors.
03 Drying and Demolition as Needed
Once all standing water is removed and the humidity is stabilized we evaluate what the source of water was. Depending on the source of water we will selectively tear out and dispose of materials like carpet and dry wall. This will depend if the water was from a “clean source” called Category One or from a dirty source called Category Three. For example, a sewage back up is dirty water (Category Three) and materials like carpet and drywall that it touches must be torn out and properly disposed of.
04 Drying and Decontamination
Next we decontaminate anywhere the water touched materials with a hospital grade cleaner. From there we install fans, called air movers, to dry the entire structure. Once done, the structure is dry and fully clean.
05 Documentation and Communication with Property Owner and Insurance Company
Throughout the entire process we document everything we do with great care. If the project is one that is being turned into insurance, we keep all documentation that they will need to pay your claim. This includes photographic documentation, detailed reports, moisture readings and so on.
Water Damage Clean up costs can vary from a few thousand dollars to more. The sooner we arrive, the less damage and less cost that is likely to occur. The biggest cost will come from doing nothing as the water will then create what is called “Secondary Damage.” This is when mold and other microorganisms growth gets so bad that material has to be torn out thus costing tens of thousands of dollars in repair construction costs.
The length of the restoration process depends on the extent of the damage. For minor water damage, it may take a few days to dry out and repair, while significant damage could take a week or more. The drying process typically lasts between 24 to 72 hours, depending on factors like humidity and materials affected.
Most homeowner’s insurance policies cover water damage restoration if the damage is sudden and accidental, such as from a burst pipe or appliance malfunction. However, flood damage or negligence-related issues may not be covered. It’s best to review your policy and consult your insurance provider.
Mold prevention begins with immediate water extraction and drying. Our team uses professional-grade equipment to remove moisture from affected areas and monitors humidity levels to ensure the space is properly dried. We also sanitize the area to prevent mold and other harmful contaminants from spreading.
